Unity in the Community

Event Date: Thursday, May 6, 2021

On March 6, 2021, Al-Maun (Neighborly Needs) officers, Fateen and Nissa Seifullah was invited by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) to accompany their police officers to the Veterans Tribute Career & Technology Academy in Las Vegas, NV.

Imam Fateen was asked to speak to the audience on the positive community and police relationship in West Las Vegas. The purpose was to give a balance to some of the negativity and stereotypes the police are faced with throughout the nation. It was an honest open talk. He commented on the positive aspects of our interactions and gave ideas on how the relationship could be improved. The talk was well received by all parties. We hope to continue this conversation at other schools throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Below is a short note from Officer Tabitha...

"I cannot thank you both enough for your support and guidance through this journey. Imam is right, we have a lot to improve on, but day by day I hope to continue to grow and teach my fellow officers to grow with us. I hope you have a wonderful day!"

Thank you to Officer Tabitha and LVMPD for inviting us to participate in a very needed discussion.
